Professing Your Faith in Your Profession

Updated: May 19, 2022

It's been quite some time since my last blog post. I have been spending some very intense one on one time with

the Lord and He has put me on notice to be more willing and vocal about professing my faith in my profession. God wants me to stop being afraid to be honest about who I am in Christ, especially in my career. For so long I have been hesitant to serve out loud in a career that God laid out before me and allowed me to enter into and be very successful. So often He asks me, why are you afraid to share what I am doing in your work when I orchestrated you for a time such as this? That scripture constantly stands out to me from the book of Esther. Esther was miraculously chose to serve in the palace, which was unheard of because of her Jewish heritage, but she was there and her uncle Mordecai, posed this question to her:

For if thou altogether holdest thy peace at this time, then shall there enlargement and deliverance arise to the Jews from another place; but thou and thy father's house shall be destroyed:and who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?
Esther 4:14

What a challenge! God has challenged me as well. Ebone, What if you are in this place for a time such as this? For Esther it was to stand up for her nation in strong faith and belief in God. To fast, pray and profess her faith and her true identity. So I am here to express my true identity. I am Ebone Kimber and I am a Social Worker who loves Jesus! I worship God, I serve Him as my king. Everyday I wake up and I talk with Him. I pray without ceasing and I enter His gates with thanksgiving. His gates by the way are every single door I walk through including the school I work at as a School Social Worker. If a student asks me to pray, I do it. I thank Jesus out loud any chance I get. I study the Bible at work and I play praise and worship music. I say "thank God" out loud to my co workers unashamed and unafraid. I remember in Graduate School how they included this as a boundary violation for our practice however not one time has this offended, hurt or harm my clients in any way. I don't pressure anyone around me to think like me, I simply am free to be who God created me to be and He does the rest.

I am here to encourage you if you are in the same position. If you are a doctor, lawyer, teacher, social worker, therapist, mental health worker, law enforcement, psychiatrist, psychologist or whatever way you serve in helping professions. Live out loud for our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! We will be silent no more! I am not afraid and neither should you. Need proof? Scripture says it loud and clear.

And in that day shall ye say, Praise the LORD, call upon his name, delcare his doings among the people, make mention that his name is exalted.
Isaiah 12:4
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, Because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; He hat sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, And recovering of sight to the blind, To set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
Luke 4:18-19

The poor, the brokenhearted, the captive, the blind, the bruised, all descriptions of individuals we serve every. single day. Do you need more proof than that that God desires for us to preach to heal, to recover and to set at liberty by sharing about our God and what He can do! You don't have to be rude, disrespectful or mean. Seek God in all things and He will guide and direct you how to carry yourself and walk in the light. Conflict and opposition will arise, but God will give you strategy. Trust me on this.

I recognize this will lose me some followers and I am okay with that. Here are my words to you. I am speaking the truth of the Lord. If you will humor me before you go and take time to observe and see the truth in what I am saying about who God is and how He saves, protects and loves. What we do is all throughout the Bible. We are doing God's divine work but we can't do it without Him. That is a fact. I hope you will stay. My content will not change. I am still very passionate about child welfare reform, foster care youth and training helping professionals. The driver of this will now only be God. So you will see scripture, you will see prayer, you will see Hallelujah, God is Good and Thank you Jesus because there is no other way! God Bless You!
